Family Resource Series
Family is at the heart of what we do here. We want to do everything we can to support and enrich your family life. The sessions we offer are designed to equip parents and encourage families toward healthy, fulfilling relationships.
The Family Resource Series is held on Tuesday evenings at Heart of the Shepherd. Each session starts with a family/group meal followed by a workshop or discussion group. Childcare is provided. Advanced registration is requested so that we can do our best to provide the necessary food, childcare, and course materials. You can register on this page or in the CDC office.

Session 4: Financial Peace University
jan 23 - Mar 20 (9 weeks)
Cost: $90* (per family)
Get out of debt and make a plan for your money in this 9-week video class, featuring money expert Dave Ramsey. This in-depth session will walk you through the basics of budgeting, dumping debt, planning for the future, and much more. It will change your life and bring peace to all areas of your finances, starting on week 1. The class fee includes a workbook, Dave Ramsey’s Complete Guide to Money book, online access to course content, a year subscription to EveryDollar Plus, and lots of extra resources.

* The $90 cost is a discounted price for the FPU kit (normally $129), available only when you purchase it through Heart of the Shepherd. If you have already purchased the kit or already been through FPU, you can attend the sessions at no cost. You still need to register on this page so we can provide adequate food and childcare.
Session 5: How to talk so kids will listen and listen so kids will talk
APR 10 - May 15 (6 weeks)
Cost: $10 (per book)
Together, we will walk through the bestselling book by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish, How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk. We will highlight time-tested methods to solve problems and build the foundations for lasting relationships between parents and children. You will learn how to cope with your child’s negative feelings, express your strong feelings without being hurtful, set firm limits while maintaining goodwill, use alternatives to punishment that promote self-discipline, understand helpful vs. unhelpful praise, and resolve conflicts peacefully.
