"Tools and Training"

 

Dr. LeeAnn Fosdick is seeking help to raise funds for her "Tools and Training" Project in Haiti.  She has traveled to Haiti twice on veterinary missions trips to assist veterinarians learn updated techniques as well as to train veterinarians to educate the owners of animals.  In Haiti, animals serve many purposes.  They are used for transportation, hauling goods, agriculture, and food.  Families depend on these animals for their livelihood and for their very lives.  The death of an animal can be a serious crisis for an already-struggling family.  A sick animal can harbor disease which can be passed on to the human population.  There are approximately 2000 practicing veterinarians in Haiti.  These vets need training and equipment in order to assist families in caring for their animals.

With a 95% unemployment rate, most Haitians make a living anyway they can.  This young woman runs a "laundromat."

The open wound on this horse's back could be easily prevented by placing a cloth pad between the skin and the pack it carries.  Through education, fewer horses are suffering this condition.
