Let's Strengthen Our Families PDF Print E-mail

Ever wonder what you as a parent/grandparent can do to strengthen your family?   Strengthening Families – is one of our church’s Core Values and something we strive to accomplish through our various ministries.

One of the ways we attempt to help parents/grandparents to strengthen their families is to connect them to resources that offer them some valuable insight and tools to assist them in their quest to be the best parents/grandparents for their children/grandchildren.  One of those resources of course is God’s Parenting or Family Manual called the Bible where we hear God share these powerful

words about strengthening families:

  • Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.  Proverbs 22:6
  • Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.  Deuteronomy 6:5-7
  • Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.  "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."  Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.  Ephesians 6:4
  • Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.  Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord…Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.                     Ephesians 5:21-22,25

Those are some powerful directives for our families, wouldn’t you agree?  As you let those words saturate your mind and your heart, it becomes apparent that RELATIONSHIPS play a dominant role when it comes to strengthening families – our relationship with God...with one another and others.  Creating and maintaining healthy, loving relationships between husbands & wives…between parents/grandparents & children/grandchildren is the key to strengthening families.

Do you want to have a positive, significant influence in the lives of your children/grandchildren?  If the answer is Yes, please do your best to check out God’s Parenting or Family Manual called the Bible and follow His directives, and do check out the following information to assist you in carrying out those directives to help strengthen your family:
