Kim Vaught

Preschool Head Teacher

Kim has a Masters in Education along with her Z.A. Endorsement and Elementary Certification from U of M Dearborn.  She is a mother of 3 children and a member of Shepherd of the Lakes Lutheran Church in Brighton, the parent congregation of HOTS.  Kim’s previous work experience was at U of M, working with mixed ages in their child development center.  She was away from teaching for a few years, staying home with her children before she joined our teaching staff in January 2007.  Kim has returned to teaching full time and works in one of our preschool rooms.  She comes from an extensive background in play-based learning.  She works on social emotional development as well as problem-solving skills.  These are a top priority in the preschool classrooms.  It is important to prepare children for the elementary years by encouraging cooperative play & conversation, helping children to develop their language skills.  Kim enjoys watching the children learn and how they explore activities and come up with new ideas.  She strives to create a classroom that connects school and home.
