2012: Old Truths for a New Year PDF Print E-mail

“Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.”                 Psalm 119:35

Many dismiss the Ten Commandments as irrelevant in our day and age.  A recent survey of 15-35 year olds revealed that the majority could name just two of them.  Yet, in spite of the lack of knowledge of the Ten Commandments, there’s a real interest to know more about them. Taking a closer look at God’s law, we find a wellspring of knowledge that helps guide us to love God and love our neighbor.

God’s laws reveal the heart of His character.  From them we learn that God values life, truth, and integrity.  He longs for us to live at peace with others and to be content with what we have.  As the New Year begins, let’s take an honest look at our own lives, our families, and church in the light of God’s law and, through His grace, discover the delight that comes from following the path of God’s timeless truths.
