What We Believe
Heart of the Shepherd Lutheran Church is affiliated with the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LCMS).
that the Bible is the divinely inspired Word of God, His absolute truth – good for all people, all places and for all time (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
in the Triune God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit, who created the world and us His creatures for His purposes (Genesis 1).
that all have sinned…have at one time or another missed the mark, and fallen short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23).
that our sins were paid for through Jesus’ death on the cross, and we celebrate Christ’s resurrection from the dead as proof of our heavenly Father’s forgiveness for our sins (Colossians 1:19-20).
that the Bible reveals God’s plan of salvation for all people through the grace-gift of His Son and our Savior Jesus Christ (John 3:16-17).
that the Good News of Jesus Christ forms the heart of the Bible’s message and all that’s written from cover to cover was written for one specific purpose – that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. (John 20:31).
that God’s Word of truth sets us free and empowers us to live and act according to His truth, experiencing the abundant life in Christ right here on earth and in heaven forevermore (John 10:10; Romans 6:23).
- that God wants all people to be saved and uses us as His witnesses to share His saving truth with others (1 Timothy 2:3-4; Matthew 28:19-20).
